Carolina Style BBQ Sauce

We were having pulled pork at one of the family cabins my siblings own in Northern Michigan, and my sister said she liked Carolina vinegar based sauce. This was an issue since nowhere in Northern Michigan do stores sell Carolina vinegar based sauce. (They do sell mustard based, but we didn’t want that.) So I looked and found a recipe online. Now, since I was in northern Michigan and original items were not available, here is what I did to make a reasonable substitute which was approved. I hope you like it.

2 cups white vinegar
1 cup ketchup
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon Everything Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion power

Mix everything in a two-quart saucepan.

Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.

Simmer for 5 minutes.

Let cool and refrigerate for 1 hour or overnight.

Serve over pulled pork. Not pictured since I forgot to take a picture, and everyone ate it all. You really didn’t want to see a picture of a bone , did you?
