Air Fried Okra

Let me begin with the fact that the okra I had as a kid was none. It didn’t exist in my Detroit neighborhood. I thought it hosted a TV talk show. Then I had it when I moved to Florida, and I wasn’t impressed. Too slimy. Now with breading and an air fryer, it’s not bad at all. This is crunchy and flavorful, not slimy and an addition to a summer fish fry or BBQ. I hope you like it.

1 pound okra, tops and bottoms removed
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
1/2 cup rice flour
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon Italian herbs
1 teaspoon Old Bay

Cooking spray and an air fryer (duh)

Add rice flour to bowl 1.

Add egg and water to bowl 2.

Add breadcrumbs, Italian herbs, and Old Bay seasoning in bowl 3.

Cut okra into 1/2 inch pieces.

Add okra to rice flour with left hand and roll to coat.

Remove with left hand and add to egg mixture to coat.

Remove with right hand and add to panko mix.

Preheat air fryer to 350 for 5 minutes.

Spray air fryer with cooking spray.

Add okra to air fryer and cook at 350 for 8-9 minutes until crispy.

Serve with remoulade sauce.

  1. I tried once : pees and zucchini coated, fried.. There is a snack of balls of pees, parmegian cheese, black pepper , all coated, in the arabian cuisine.
