This is a big classic in the Borough of Brooklyn. Now, I took short cuts and some liberties making changes but keeping it recognizable. Change one: the original has chocolate pudding, but I went with chocolate mousse. I decided to use a shortcut with a box cake mix but upgraded it with coffee and better flavoring. No frosting – I used dark chocolate ganache which brings a lot of creamy flavor. I know there is a lot of chocolate. I hope you like it.
1 devil’s food cake mix
1/2 cup coffee
1 teaspoon chocolate vodka
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 boxes chocolate mousse mix
12 ounces dark chocolate chips
4 ounces cream
Chocolate shavings for decorating
Make chocolate mousse according to package directions
Butter and flour 2 8 x 8 foil cake pans.
Make cake according to package directions except add coffee, vodka and vanilla.
Bake at 350 for 20-22 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool.
Remove the cakes from the pan. Level which ever cake you will use for a bottom.
Add thick mousse layer to bottom layer.
Add second layer of cake.
In a microwave melt chocolate and whipped cream in 25 seconds burst stirring after each burst.
Let cool for 20 minutes.
Pour over cake and let it drip down the sides.
Smooth out sides with a frosting spatula.
Refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.
Serve.

I almost blacked out reading the list of ingredients! Haha! Sound delicious!
