Blood Orange Oyster Granita

A New Year’s Eve dish. It remarkably has very seasonal flavors like blood orange and oysters. The granita is a nice flavor delivery system bring a fresh flavor to the classic oyster’s on the half shell. Other flavors are garlic, Old Bay and lemon. I hope you like it


6 oysters in half shell
Juice from 2 blood oranges
1 teaspoon
2 tablespoons minced basil
1 tablespoon cilantro minced
1/2 teaspoon Old Bay
1/2 teaspoon garlic
2 drops hot sauce per oyster

In a shallow freezer safe container add cilantro, basil, garlic, Old Bay, lemon juice, and blood orange juice. Mix and place in freezer for 1 hour.

After 1 hour use a fork to scrape flakes of ice. Do that to the entire mixture.

Place in freezer for 1 hour.

Re-scrape one last time.

Add 1 to 2 drops of hot sauce to each oyster.

Add 1 teaspoon of the frozen granita to each oyster.

Serve over ice.
