Swiss Steak

2 pound round steak 1/2 inch thick
Flour for dredging
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
Butter and oil for sauté
2 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
1 8 oz can sliced mushrooms or small package of fresh mushrooms cooked down
8 oz red wine
16 oz whole baby potatoes
2 cups peeled carrots cut into serving piecews
1 white onion diced

Pound out steak thin coat in flour
In large skillet melt butter in oil on medium
Dredge steak in flour and spices
Brown steak on both sides
Remove from pan
Preheat oven to 300 degrees
In an oven safe baking dish
deglaze pan with wine and add to oven safe baking pan
Add mushrooms
Add tomatoes
Add browned steak
Cover and simmer on low for 3 hours stirring every 30 checking for tenderness.
Add potatoes cook 75 minutes or until potatoes are done
Add carrots let cook for 30 minutes if you want

If you use a crock pot put everything in a crockpot for 5 hours
