Twice baked Shepherds Pie

This is old school comfort food.  Where I took this one was with an update of the meats and the potatoes being a little different, but the results are good.  This is perfect for a cold fall day.  It will stick to your ribs.

3/4 pound ground beef

wait for it….

3/4 ground lamb or (venison if you can get it)
1 red opinion diced
1 12 oz bag mixed vegetables
1/2 cup chicken broth
6 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
5 potatoes – baked
3/4 cup cheddar cheese
1/ teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon peppers
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1/2 paprika
1/2 teaspoon season salt
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon chives
2 teaspoon worstershire sauce
Bake potatoes so they will be fork tender
Remove potato skins
Place potatoes in a bowl
Add 4 tablespoon of butter
Mash potatoes with beater
Add salt and pepper to taste
Add season salt
Add sour cream and whip
Add cheese and stir
Add chives
Brown beef and lamb but do not drain
Add onion and cook for 5 minutes
Add butter and flour; stir to incorporate
Let cook for 4 minutes
Add worchershire sauce
Add hot sauce
Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika
Add broth
Add mixed vegetables
Place in a large casserole dish
Top with potato mixture
Bake for 30 minutes until top browns
Top with some grated cheddar cheese after 15 minutes
Serve
