Bacon wrapped chorizo stuffed dates

I have a friend who is having a wine party and needed some hors d’ouerve to be “Extra” (which I have no idea what that means). I do know that these are very tasty because they are salty, sweet, and spicy.  These are not labor intensive so are great for parties. Hope you like them.
10 strips bacon
1/2 pound chorizo sausage
20 large dates
1 16 oz jar basil tomato sauce
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Cut slit in each date
Stuff with sausage
Wrap with bacon
Secure with toothpick
Place on an oven safe rack over a parchment lined baking sheet
Bake for 15 -20 minutes or until crispy
Remove from oven
Reduce oven to 350
In a shallow baking dish add a shallow layer of tomato sauce
Add bacon wraps
Bake for 8 minutes
