Monte Cristo Sandwich

Back in my younger days before cholesterol and high blood pressure took root, I used to love these.  I used to get them at a diner on the south side of Chicago after I made a big sale.  I hope you enjoy it.
Ingredients:
8 slices marble rye
4 slices Muenster cheese
4 slices ham
8 slices bacon
Dijon mustard
4 eggs
8 oz half and half
1 teaspoon vanilla
Powder sugar to dust
In a pie pan whisk eggs, half and half, and vanilla until combined.
Sandwich assembly:
Slice of bread
Ham
Muenster cheese
Dijon mustard
Bread
Heat griddle on medium high
Coat with butter or cooking spray
Dip each side of sandwich in egg batter
Place on griddle for 5 minutes a side until both sides are golden brown in color
Dust with powdered sugar and serve with real maple syrup
Makes 4 sandwiches
