Merlot Cranberry Sauce

Most cooks have done homemade cranberry sauce with the package directions off of the bag. Some of us have also added orange juice or other things like wine. This is a little different since I don’t use table sugar. It’s a deeper, richer flavor than standard cranberry sauce. I hope you like it.

12 ounce pack fresh cranberries
8 ounces water
4 ounces Merlot
1/2 cup molasses
4 ounces light brown sugar
1 pinch salt
1 cinnamon stick
1 finger fresh ginger, pealed

In a 2-quart sauce pan, add all ingredients and cook on medium high until all the berries pop.

Remove cinnamon stick and ginger.

Serve.
