Snickerdoodles

Ok, they are a classic; I did it straight up, no deviation. As classic as it comes. I know they’re Dutch. I would credit someone with this, but so many people take credit for them that I don’t know who to give credit to. So like the famous baseball announcer Ernie Harwell (look him up – he was a classic too) I will give credit to a lady from Battle Creek, Michigan. I hope you like them.

Dry Ingredients:
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet ingredients:
1 cup butter (1 stick)
1/2 cup Crisco shortening
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

Sugar cinnamon mix:
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon

In bowl one, mix flour, cream of tartar, baking powder, and salt. Mix with a whisk.

In bowl 2, cream butter and Crisco and mix until incorporated.

Add sugar and cream until smooth.

Add vanilla and eggs and mix until smooth.

Add flour 1/4 at a time until dough is mixed.

Refrigerate for 45 minutes.

Preheat oven to 375.

Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.

Roll 1 1/2 inch balls in cinnamon sugar.

Place on a parchment- lined baking sheet.

Bake for 9 minutes at 375.
