This is a staple of Baltimore and an ingredient in their famous Bomb Pie. This is a mash up of a black and white cookie with a fudge topping. There is a ton of chocolate here, maybe more chocolate than cookie which is a hallmark of a Berger cookie. I hope you like it.
Cookie:
2 packages sugar cookie mix, divided
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
3 tablespoons flour
2 sticks butter
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon chocolate vodka
Frosting:
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup cream
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
Heat oven to 375.
Take 1 sugar cookie mix and add cocoa powder, 1 egg, 1 stick butter, and vodka and combine into a dough. Form into a long 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” rope. It will be two feet plus long.
Take second cookie mix and add flour, 1 stick of butter, 1 egg, and vanilla. Combine into a dough and form a 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” rope. Top with the chocolate rope. It will be two feet long plus.
Wrap in parchment and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Slice cookies into 1/4 inch slices.
Bake for 9-11 minutes until bottom is brown but top is not.
In microwave safe bowl add chocolate chips, corn syrup, salt, and cream. Melt in 30 second bursts. Add vanilla and beat in powdered sugar until smooth.
Frost cookies.
