Blood Orange Cookies

Blood orange season has about five weeks left, so I’m like a high school student going for extra credit. I’m doing a lot of recipes. This is a crackle cookie so very pretty. Lots of orange flavor because most recipes don’t use the zest which is free flavor. I hope you like it.

1 stick butter
1 egg
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons Grand Mariner
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Juice and zest of 2 blood orange
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup orange sugar
1/4 cup red sugar
Glaze:
Juice of 2 blood oranges
1 teaspoon Grand Mariner
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

In bowl 1 cream butter, sugar, vanilla, and Grand Mariner

Add egg and beat.

Add orange juice and zest.

In bowl 2 mix flour, baking powder, and salt.

Mix bowl 2 in bowl 1 in 3 batches.

Refrigerate for 1 hour.

Roll 1 1/2 inch balls and roll in both sugars. I combined my sugars to eliminate a step. You do you.

Heat oven to 375.

Place cookies on a parchment lined baking sheet.

Bake for 9-11 minutes.

Let cool.

Glaze – Mix blood orange juice, Grand Mariner and powdered sugar and mix until smooth.

Drizzle on cookies but make it prettier than I did.

Serve.
