Air Fried Okra

Summer time at the Long Family market in Stafford VA is a time of plenty. This weeks prize was okra. I just heard but Dan okra is slimy and I say with our coating it won’t be I’m going simple batter. It will be crispy and flavorful with a cornmeal some hot sauce. I hope you like it. I’m working on an ultimate version.

16 ounces okra tops removed
4 ounces corn flour
4 ounces self rising flour
1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 egg
6 ounces milk
Hot sauce to taste

Mix corn flour, self rising flour, Old bay, and garlic powder.

In a second bowl mix milk and egg.

Combine egg/milk into flour bowl and whisk to combine.

Preheat air fryer to 350.

Dip okra in batter to cover completely.

Spray air fryer basket with cooking spray.

Add battered okra to basket.

Air fry okra for 8 minutes turning after 5 minutes.

Serve with remoulade sauce.
