This biscuit recipe has no butter in it!!!!! I saw this on PBS’s America’s Test Kitchen, but of course I took their idea and made it my own. The addition of the pepper makes this perfect for sausage and gravy. I love me some biscuits and gravy. I hope you like it.
3 cups flour
2 cups whipping cream
4 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon black pepper and 1/2 teaspoon red pepper
Preheat oven to 425.
Mix flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, pepper, and baking powder.
Microwave cream for 15-second bursts until the temperature is 95-100.
Add cream to flour mix and stir until smooth.
Using 1/3 measuring cup, scoop dough on parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake for 15-18 minutes.
Brush with butter.
Serve with butter, jam, or sausage gravy.
