Air Fryer Corn Dog

It’s almost county fair time, so we will all have the chance to grab a corn dog or 3. Here are my fears of the midway corndog. In what city was the frying oil last changed? Are there any animals missing from the judging area? Has the cook had his tetanus booster? I think I’ve insulted enough people, so we will move on. So let’s make it at home in the air fryer! Less fat, more sanitary, no question where the meat came from. I hope you like it.

4 hot dogs cut in half
8 toothpicks
1/4 cup rice flour
1 cup Panko bread crumbs
3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup corn meal
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt

In a bowl mix regular flour and corn meal with baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In bowl 2 mix egg, buttermilk, and sugar.

Mix flour mixture with milk mixture with whisk.

Insert toothpick in hotdog half way.

Roll hotdog in rice flour on a plate.

On a second plate add the Panko.

Pour batter in a drinking glass.

Dip hot dog in batter.

Roll hotdog in Panko and press on to cover.

Repeat until all hotdogs are used.

Spray hotdogs with Pam.

Place in air fryer.

Air fry at 350 for 15 minutes turning at 8 minutes.

Serve with honey mustard.

Oh yum!! My daughters love corn dogs, but all we can get around here are frozen ones , and I rarely deep fry, so I have never made them; this recipe is perfect to solve all these issues!

    1. One of the keys I forgot to picture is pouring the batter into a drinking glass to get the batter on. Keep the kids happy.
