Alabama Smoked Turkey Slamma

I was at the Farmers Market, and I saw a vendor with catfish and smoked turkey legs. I went with the turkey and then craved a sandwich with fried green tomatoes, Alabama white BBQ sauce, and topped with baby green onion strands. I hope you like it.

1 smoked turkey leg (from Catfish on Wheels)
2 green tomatoes
3/4 cup corn meal
2/3 cup flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
1 cup buttermilk
8 cloves garlic
1/2 white onion
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 teaspoon cumin
1 1/2 cup Mayo
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 slices white bread
4 tablespoons green onion strands (Pennington Farm Market)

Oil for cooking.

In a blender, mix onion, vinegar, and garlic.

Add mayo, cumin, and pepper and mix until smooth.

Mix corn meal, flour, Old Bay, and garlic powder.

Slice and core tomatoes in 1/4 slices.

Dip tomato slices into corn meal mixture, then buttermilk, then again in corn meal.

Heat skillet to medium and add oil.

Add tomatoes and brown on both sides.

Cut turkey leg into slices and warm in a 350 oven for 7-8 minutes
