Nectarines on Grilled Angel Food Cake with Gelato

The Wild Horse Inn has been very nice to let me use their gas grill and use it I have. Our room only has a microwave, so the grill has been a great asset. Tonight I grilled some angel food cake with a nectarine caramel sauce with the White Horse Inn’s gelato. Simple – everything done on the grill. I hope you like it.

4 large nectarines cut in 1/4 inch slices
4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon elderflower liqueur or vanilla
3 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup water
1 pint vanilla gelato

Grill safe pan.

Heat grill to 350.

In grill safe pan add nectarines, butter, flour, cinnamon, vanilla, water, and stir. Place pan on hot area on the grill.

Cover grill with top and cook for 15 minutes. Stir twice.

Cut angel food cake in 1 1/2 inch thick pieces and place on grill for 3 minutes per side remove to serving bowl.

Top with nectarine mixture.

Add gelato.

Serve.
