Home Town Hot Fudge Sauce

The greatest man in Michigan history in Fred Saunders Schmidt, the inventor of hot fudge and the immortal bumpy cake. Here is my take on his classic hot fudge sauce. I added more chocolate flavor, salt for contrast, with chocolate vodka for more intense flavor. I hope you like it. Now, that is how this started but…in the credits for the movie Hot Shots, part of the end credits has topping for brownies. Mary, this one’s for you. I hope you like it.

6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
6 ounces milk chocolate chips
2 sticks butter
1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
1 3/4 cups light corn syrup
1 pinch salt
1 teaspoon chocolate vodka

In a sauce pan melt butter, then add sweetened condensed milk, corn syrup, and salt. Cook on medium for 4 minutes.

Add chocolate chips and vodka. Stir and cook for 20 minutes.

Let cool. Store in glass jar. Refrigerate.

Serve over ice cream, brownie, cereal, tofu, snail – it will make anything taste better. Ok, I’m joking about the tofu and snail – please don’t do that.
