Detroit Coney Dog Pizza

When I go back to Michigan, two items that I eat that which I can’t get in DC are Detroit Pizza(I am team Buddy’s)Detroit Coney dog.(I’m team National) So I decided I’m going to piss everyone off and combined the two icons. I start with Detroit thick style crust add the hot dog pieces all in a Detroit square pizza pan. Then a layer of brick cheese no mozzarella cheese here and like Detroit the chili not sauce is on the top. Three lines of perfection. The final touch is some mustard stripes and some onions. Please folk don’t shun me when I come home. I hope you like it.

1 package pizza crust
1/3 cup pizza sauce
1/2 cup National coney chili sauce
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
1/2 cup cheddar cheese grated
2 hotdogs cut in 1/2 inch slices
1/2 cup diced onions
1/4 cup yellow mustard

Make crust dough per package directions. Let rise for 30 minutes.

This is a Dan thing but I add corn meal to the pizza pan so it doesn’t stick.

Spread dough on pan to 1/2 inch thick.

Spread pizza sauce on dough.

Spread coney chili on dough.

Add mozzarella cheese evenly.

Add cheddar cheese evenly.

Add hot dog slices to pizza

Heat oven to 425.

Bake for 20-24 minutes until bottom of crust is golden brown.

Remove pizza and top with onions and mustard.

Serve.
